Each year IVCLA members gather to elect new directors to the board and directors returning for their second three-year term. We also present the year’s Outstanding Citizen Diplomat and Outstanding Professional Resource Awards. Guests enjoy a buffet dinner and international wine bar. It is also an opportunity to raise funds for IVCLA by bidding on exciting Silent Auction items and purchasing a ticket (or ten!) for our Annual International Year of Dining Drawing.

The Los Angeles Police Department
Outstanding Resource

The Los Angeles Police Department is the third largest police department in the United States, with 10,000 sworn officers and 3,000 civilian employees, encompassing an area of 473 square miles, a population of approximately 3.8 million people, and an annual budget exceeding one billion dollars. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck oversees the Department and strives to further the Department's ascendancy to the pinnacle of 21st century policing. Major components of this endeavor include the mitigation of crime, the reduction of gang violence and the containment of terrorism. Despite hectic schedules, LAPD officers and Chief Beck take time to meet with international law enforcement officials and civic leaders from around the world who are participating in IVCLA programs. These meetings, which include discussions on topics such as human trafficking, community policing, gang violence prevention and security issues, foster positive connections between Los Angeles and the rest of the world.
